At the top of the stairs, the dog stopped and chucked the knife seemingly at random. It vanished and, a moment later, Star stumbled into the hall, shirt torn, blood on her. "Holy fuck..."

Without sparing a glance at the fox, Aurélie walked into the room she'd vacated and tugged her knife out of the snake's neck, smiled into his eyes as they went glassy. "Bonne."


[Alex, you fail. She wasn't in the hall XD]

"Star!" Cross ran to the hedgecat's side. "Are you okay?"

"I... um... That knife came out of... of nowhere and it..." She stared at the echidna, blinking. "What happened...?" The small fox clung to her leg, quivering.

The dog walked out, smiling. "Well, now that that is over, Cross I need to speak with you."

Kale came to a halt impatiently in front of Star. "I assumed something might be wrong here." He tossed a medical kit down next to Star. "You know how to use one of these?" He then turned to Cross. "Now kindly answer, what the hell is going on?!"
[Whatever, I'm tired, can't be assed to pay too much attention. ^^;]

The dog shook her head. "'E 'as no idea what is going on, you baboon. And a medical kit would be useless. 'E is dead. Star, is it?" The hedgecat nodded, baffled. "Bonne. Go clean yourself up."

Cross rose again, stepping toward the dog. "Let me guess. Someone's after you and Nova."

"Not after me, no. I am merely... changing the target."

Star managed to get Trip off of her leg, but he immediately attached himself to Cross. Sighing, the hedgecat walked off to take as fast a shower as possible.

Cross kneeled down to the kit's eye level. "Trip, I've got some serious business to take care of, right now. I need you to watch over your mom, okay?"

He shook his head, eyes wide and terrified.

Aurélie studied him, frowning. "While I explain, keep 'im with you. When your femme returns, she can take 'im and you can 'elp me."

"I don't think that..." He sighed, shutting up. Arguing won't get them anywhere. "...Fine."

Trip pressed against him, shaking. The dog nodded. "Do you know Nova's real name?"

"Yeah. His family name's rival to yours. I thought I mentioned that, earlier."

She waved a hand. "Just making sure. 'Is cousin is after 'im. 'E is in my 'otel room at the moment unless 'e isn't. Either way, I decided to get rid of as many of 'er followers as possible."

"So, you need me to help out with drawing attention away from Nova." He sighed again. "Guess I'd better call up the others. We'll need all the help we can get."

"Others?"

"Nova didn't tell you about the whole team, huh? The house he bought-it's big enough to accomodate five, me and him included. That's the number of our mercenary team."

She nodded. "D'accord. Call them." She began to twirl a blade between her fingers. "And I would suggest taking your femme somewhere safe. They know this 'ouse and going to Nova's will ensure that they know that 'ouse."

"She knows where to go for safety. I'll see to it she gets there. That means you too, Trip," he added to the kit clinging tight to his leg.

He nodded. "Okay."

He turned back to Aurélie. "Anything else I should know? Anything that'll help identify these guys?"

"Oh." She walked back into the room and shook her head. She'd cut this one's neck up too badly to show him the mark. She walked back out and started down the stairs. "Come. Leave the little one for now. 'E does not need to see this."

Cross nodded, turned back to the kit. "Now Trip, this time I'm serious. I need you to watch over your mom. If anything happens, anything at all, you call for me, okay?"

He nodded and let go of him, shivering. "O-o-okay..."

"Thank you," he said, standing upright. He gave the kit a smile. "I trust you."

He smiled slightly. "'Kay."
