Lyra sent a smug smirk and a wink at Shine over her shoulder and turned back to flick her tongue over the wolf's neck.

Sunny shook her head. "Pitiful. Everyone's getting laid except my son."

"Yeah, it's pretty sad," Briggs said, arms folded. "I can't believe our kid's got so much restraint."

Star's eyes rolled. "What's wrong with some restraint?"

"Not like you have any, kettle."

"Why can't I be pot?"

Sunny grinned. "You're not fun enough."

Briggs laughed. "Nice. Anyway, you forget who his folks are? He should be worse than us, not better."

"Well, think about who's he fell in love with," Lyra pointed out, smiling.

"Yeah, she ain't no Sunny, that's for sure. But it's gotta be something behind that cute face of hers, or he wouldn't have been bothered."

"Maybe it's because she's actually nice...?" Star shrugged. "Even you and Briggs aren't only programmed for sex, Sunny."

Briggs shrugged. "Whatever the case, it looks pretty solid between those two... I'm actually kinda proud of him."

"So am I," Sunny admitted, smiling. "He's happy, so whatever."

Lyra sighed. If only Kane would be that understanding...

Briggs glanced over at Lyra, noticed something... "Stung over Kane?"

"Well, I mean..." She adored Kane, despite his overbearing manner towards Dusk. So she didn't want to say anything bad about him... Lyra sighed. "Some," she admitted.

"Well, you gotta see his side, too. Shit, what he went through, killin' who knows how many with a cursed blade, splittin' his soul just to be rid of the images - the man's had it pretty rough. Shit, I think I woulda sooner killed myself, let alone start a family.

"Yet, here the guy is, still fightin' strong. Not to mention he's one old wolf, goin' into his sixties. If you stop and think about it, things could be a lot worse."

"I know..." She sighed, laying her head on Dusk's shoulder.

Dusk sighed as well, stroking Lyra's hair. "Still, that doesn't excuse what he says sometimes. I mean, taking shots at how I was raised? Reality check, I'm your son; you helped raised me."

"He's just keepin' his claws sharp. And makin' sure yours are, too. And really, Dusk, you oughta lighten up on him, too. Can't expect him to see like you do."

He sighed again, looking down at the echidna in his arms. Maybe he did get a little curt with his father at times, when dealing with something where they had completely different views...

"You are a lot like him," Lyra murmured.

Dusk frowned. "I know. I'm sorry, I..."

"Don't be so hard on yourself," Briggs said, scratching his ear idly. "Bein' a lot like him ain't exactly a bad thing. Just depends on how you look at it."

Sunny stretched. "You're a good kid. He knows that."

Dusk said nothing for a moment, thinking. Now that he thought about it, he was pretty strong, like his father. Not physically like Nova, or emotionally like Star, but mentally. Even with all the mental scars his father endured, he found stability, and gained a family in the end. Accordingly, even though Dusk's mind has been put through the gauntlet by his father on many occasions, he's still just as level-headed as he's always been.

"...I guess so," he finally decided.

Briggs smirked. "Just make sure to watch your ass, over in Europe. Lyra's too."

She laughed. "I can take care of myself, thanks."

"Not from where I'm sittin'," Comet teased, smiling. "You take care of her, Dusk."

Dusk nodded. "I will."

Briggs smiled, patted the wolf's shoulder. "Ass in gear, man." He then turned his gaze back up to the kitchen. "Pavo, if you take another damn pancake...!"

He grinned. "Luna asked me to get her another!"

Luna looked up from her own plate full of pancakes. "Mew?" she said, mouth full of food.

Briggs cracked his knuckles. "You were sayin', kid?"

He grin widened as he snatched a pancake.

Star laughed. "Oh, just leave him alone. I can always make more."

Briggs huffed. "Ain't the damn point. Damn glutton." He stalked over, pulled food onto a plate.

Pavo lifted Luna off of her seat, sat, and placed her on his lap. Briggs wouldn't go after him if she stayed put. He licked the back of her neck, smiling.
