B.C.E.

B.C. means 'before christ' and A.D. means Ano domini. It literally translates to 'Year of our lord'. In an effort by scientists, professors, and demographers to distinguish between the two using politically inert terms, they have been redivided into B.C.E. and C.E.: Before Classical Era and Classical Era

This Rp takes place during the wilds of everything Before the Classical Era. It will start 8 years after the appearance of the chaos emeralds. They are refereed to as 'Those little things that belong to the master emerald'. Different species are separated into tribes and tribes separate species into casts that perform different jobs. Anyone with two species that cant hide out pretending to be only one species lives outside the villages in isolated cottages. The cottages all are banded together in order to survive. Some instead of leaving the village do menial tasks in places the general population wont see them; orphanages, Inn kitchens, rowing on pleasure boats for wealthy people, ect.

The Echidna tribe: echidnaopolis, is the dominant tribe in the area. It is stronger and wealthier than any other tribe. It is the most clannish of all the tribes. They consider themselves to be better than any other race because they own the master emerald. However, it isn't the biggest in terms of size or population. It relies on the tax-less trading of food, wood, and other basic goods from the smaller villages. In return it gives them military protection.

It was an outrage when Gilgamesh, Echo and shadow's father, became a general. He was a hedgehog and the echidnas refused to accept him for the longest time. However, achieving what he did, he soon became a hero for not only the hedgehogs but the other villages who suffered the echidnas' racism. Fearing a revolution, the tribe leaders of the echidnas decided to grant Gilgamesh all of the rights and royalties of an echidna general. He even allowed Gilgamesh to make himself a new title: "Knight." He is also not alive; Nor is his wife.

Echo and Shadow are living in an orphanage in the hedgehog tribe. It is not an easy life there. The orphanage gives them 3 barefit meals a day and if they are not on time EXACTLY then they dont eat. The orphanage also gives them more clothes now and again, a room with two beds in it, and little else. Once the kids are able to feed, wash, and go to the bathroom by themselves they fend for themselves. The orphanage help is too busy with the young to care what the older kids do all day. Most of Echo and shadows' days are spent playing or fighting bullies.

This is a different idea for an rp I think. That is the entire set up and once a saga is spent we will time skip to the next. I have several ideas and may need to pm-coordinate plans with other people. If all goes correctly and this RP doesn't die, we may also be able to reenact the Trojan War should we get that far.

This has been Echo the Hedgehog. Therefore there are three courtesy rules I would request be observed.

Echo woke up in the usual summer heat. His mouth was dry and breakfast was probably already over. He rolled over and saw Shadow who was holding some bread and water.

"Saved you some." He said. Echo grinned in gratitude. It seemed Shadow always had things covered.

"You didn't have too." He said, as was polite.

"You needed your rest after last night." Echo recalled the beating he had received.

"That bunny needed help."

"YOU needed help when I got there!" Echo frowned at took the food.

"I got 4 of them."

"So did I. Thank goodness there were only 8 that time. Next time there will be 16!" Echo sighed. He couldn't help himself but try to help people in general.

"No point in staying here." he hopped off his straw bed and gobbled up the food. He then threw on another pair of brown, threadbare clothes and started outside. Shadow sighed. He didn't know what he was going to do with his brother. He kept getting himself into trouble.

[So if I'm understanding this, Star would be a total outcast, lol. How old are they at the moment? And would it be possible for me to add Sunny into this orphanage, even though she's a dog?]

Nearby, much noise was being made as a lumbering giant of a cat struggled to match the speed of a brown [hedge]fox.
"Stop running around like little baby-man and fight me!" he grunted angrily.
"Just try an' catch me!" The fox laughed and dodged another heavy blow, headbutting Anton in the back, causing him to stagger forward a little bit.

[Yup on star. And as for Sunny...I suppose it can be an orphanage for many races; meaning if you wish you could add star there aswell. Echo and shadow are 10.]

Echo walked down a hall and peered out of a window to see the battle between the fox and hedgefox.

"Shall we help him?"

"You're a nutter." Shadow responded.

[Ill keep them in the orphanage long enough for Sunny and or star to arrive.]

A small yellow labrador pup stood, growling. She was the only one of her kind in the entire orphanage and, for that matter, the only one within miles of the area. Not a single soul knew where she had come from, but she was a violent nine year old, so very few of the other kids talked to her.

Dressed like a boy, another odd thing about the young girl, she stomped her foot and a wall appeared between the fox and hedgefox.

"Stop it, you guys!" she snapped.

Both jumped back. "What the hell?!" the hedgefox cried.

Scowling, the girl sat back down. "Stop fighting," she said again.

[Okay, ages because I forgot: Kale is 15, Anton is 20]

Anton turned toward the pup. "Even with your rock-powers, little baby, how could your rocks stand up to such a giant man?! You are not so tough as you think, you know." He stepped towards her menacingly.

She didn't back up, a sneer crossing over her features. "Shush, ya big brute..."

Kale looked over at his opponent, setting aside their petty argument to deal with this... Annoyance. "I'd keep to yerself, girl. Take it from me; this guy'll rip a little squirt like you right in two."

"Humph. He just thinks he can because he's older than me. What he should do is find work! Lazy!"

Anton growled and charged at the young girl with a feral roar, throwing away whatever Russian morals remained in the hulking cat's mind.

An aqua tail very suddenly wrapped around his legs and toppled him over, gone as quickly as it had appeared. The pup grinned, the floor opening and dropping Anton into it, closing around his neck so he could still breathe. "So there," the dog snapped.

He coughed. "You... What are you? You do not fight your own battles, either. You are a coward," he spat with venom in his voice. "Now, where is your battle-fighter? Where is the one who protects you when you cannot stand up for yourself, little baby?"

"I didn't ask for help," she snapped. "And I coulda taken you down anyways." She crossed her arms and walked in the direction of the tail's origin. She stopped near a dark area and sat down, leaning against the wall.

He struggled against the rock, but unfortunately he couldn't do much because of his position. "Let... Let me out of this and fight me like a man, coward!"
Kale smacked his forehead. "There's a reason you can't win in a fight against me," he muttered to himself.

"I'm a girl," she pointed out, sneering.

"It does not matter to me. If you have such fancy rock powers, why not use them to fight? Not trap like coward; fight like warrior!"

"Stop fighting kids and get some work!" she snapped.

"I do have work. I came here to exterminate babies like you, the 'gifted' ones with the powers. I am a mercenary, girl, now if you let me go I shall make your death quick!"

"You won't touch me!" she snapped. "I'll bury you all the way!"

Suddenly Kale was behind her. "Don't think so." He struck her in the back of the head. strongly enough to knock down someone like Anton.

Meanwhile Echo and Shadow slowly and stealthily crept up onto the scene, hiding in the bushes. Once they heard that he was an assasin it could only mean one thing: He was there to cripple the Echindaoplian generals, and anyone who may one day become one. While it was no big deal to anyone not an echidna, Gilgamesh had taught that only when all of the villages were one did this area ever function propperly, and what was good for the one was good for all. Echo jumped out of the bushes and caught her as she collapsed.

"Miserable Wretch!" He shouted. Shadow swore under his breath, recceding into the bushes. He'd have to jump in as backup after-

Suddenly he brushed against something warm and soft. He turned around and saw what ppeared to be pale blue fur.

The girl ducked back to better hide when he turned, letting out a soft squeak. Her white-edged quills stood on end, similarly marked ears flattened. Pure breeds...

Shadow turned to see her and his eyes widened.

"Woah..." he came a bit closer.

"Im called Shadow. Who are you?"
