Katherine smirked, opening up the com for them to hear, "Three-three-six, you are clear for pickup. Everyone, if it's hostile, I want it to be a smoldering crater."

"Roger!" Came a rather impressive amount of voices.

Cross smirked. "Oh, and try to keep StarShine intact, okay? Unlike my place, they don't have anything to lose."

"Well, at the time, the place was over-run by assasins, so it was kinda necessary..."

The stealth variant pelican landed in front of the place and several ODSTs and marine medics piled out and made their way into the daycare.

"Sunny, this is Shadow Squad, we're friendlies!" Called out one of the ODSTs as they entered the building.

"Mm... True. I never 'ave."

She lifted a brow. "Wow. I'm so fucking impressed." She was half-ready to pass out.

"Still, I hate the fact that I quickly lost over five years of projects, damn good ones, too." He sighed, pulling out his pistol, staring at it. "At least I'm starting completely from scratch."

He chuckled. "I can see who's gonna have the babies most of the time."

Her smile was wicked. "'Ave fun with them, mon coeur."

Trip swung his legs idly, looking shyly around the odd ship they were in.

"Sorry Cross, but better them be destroyed than captured by the enemy."

"Pardon us, we're trained for stealth and subtelty." Commented the ODST dryly as the medics moved in to look her over.

"Looks like she's pinned by a few knives. Man, these people make fighting the Covies seem like a walk in the damn park. At least they can't do this..." Stated one of the medics.

Another nodded before replying, "Yeah, looks likes we're yanking her off them..."

"Ma'am, I suggest readying yourself," started the first, "'cause this is gonna hurt like hell."

"Wait a fucking minute - you are not!"

"Well, if you have any better ideas, we're open to suggestions."

"Give me a damn minute..." She bit her lip and the knives, made of metal earth, melded back to the floor. And the blood started to flow from the wounds. "Shit, shit, shit, shit - you can get me up now."

"On the bright side, I keep all my data mobile at all times. If I'm not on a computer, everything's in my flash drives."

"Nice try. I'm changing this time, but you are going to learn this."

"Mm... Per'aps at a later time."

Katherine smirked, "Very good, Damien was right, you are intelligent."

"Well, that works." Stated the ODST as he gestured to the others of his squad to cover the entrances.

Both medics went to work on closing and bandaging the wounds before she bled out.

"Geez, don't think I've ever come across someone who can take this much abuse and still be able to kick ass. You're one badass woman, Sunny." Commented one of the medics while he bandages one of her wonds.

"Yeah. When everything's calm again, your lessons begin."

Cross stowed his gun back away. "Child of Nocturne military? I'd better be."

It took all of her willpower to not squeal. "Yeah, thanks. Now let's get the fuck out of here, all right?"

The dog smiled. "We'll see."

Both medics chuckled as they unfolded the stretcher and carfully shifter her onto and carried her out of there and into the pelican, followed by the ODSTs. The hatch shut and they were all underway towards the base.

Nova sighed. "I'm still worried. This whole 'last chance' thing has kinda messed with me."

Cross sighed, looking over at Trip. "This has been some day, huh?"

"I know, mon coeur."

The fox nodded, frowning. "Are you gonna be there when the plane thing lands?"

"And even though we have a deeper understanding on how the Laroches and Baudoins tie into each other, there's still something bugging me."

"Yeah. I'll be there to welcome you with open arms."

"What is it?"

He smiled slightly. "Okay."

"The blade. I can't shake the feeling that there's something more to it, other than being owned by Tuefel."

He frowned slightly. "I just wish I could do the same with you mom..."

She sighed. "Per'aps, but it isn't something I would like to dwell on. It is a dangerous thing... Hm... On the way to France, we need to make a stop in London. I would like to get the Kane blades back together."

"How come we can't go get her now? Don't you know who took her?"

Nova smiled. "I bet Crescent will be looking forward to that."

"We do, but it's not as simple as 'go getting her.' These are very dangerous people. And we're tired from fighting all day."

She laughed. "As will Kane."

Frowning, Trip pressed back into his seat. "She's gonna be okay, right?"

"I'm actually curious as to their combined power under the full moon. I wonder if I can tap into them the same way I can into Tuefel's blade."

"Yes, she will. They won't hurt her; they need her to draw us out."
