He smiled.

"And they say only Trojan women can take care of themselves..."

She blinked. "Sorry?"

"Whoever said that's an idiot." A golden labrador hopped down the stairs, dumped a tied up and unconscious bear onto the floor at their feet. He was easily twice the girl's height and probably twice her weight, too.

"We're Trojan volunteers." MArcus told Star, gesturing for her to sit down.

"The M.O.T." Yoko told her, whistling at the size of him.

"YOu're one tough dog."

"So anyway," Kale butted in, "why is this escalated? As I said before, it was self-defense, right?"

"I don't see how it's being escalated," the hedgecat stated, sinking onto the couch. "I still have to give my report, just like Sunny, or this guy won't get jail time for attempted robbery."

He sighed. "Fine... Go ahead."

Yoko walked from Sunny to behind Kale.

"Excuse me. By what authority are you telling her to go ahead?" He said accusingly. Some random guy walking into a daycare asking about a robbery like he had a badge was pretty suspicious.

Marcus walked over to the theif and looked him over.

"Look at this." He pointed to a symbol tatooed onto his neck.

"Nature's army." He told Star. "It's a gang that showed up after the winter got bad. They claim to be sent by the 'Earth Mother' to defend the environment; but in reality they just steal and scare ordinary people for kicks. They never opperate alone so it would be best if we stayed here in case his partner shows up."

Sunny scowled, cracked her knuckles. "I can handle it."

"Sunny..." Smiling, the hedgecat shook her head.

"Sorry mad'm. But if you killed them we'd have to bring you in for 3rd degree manslaughter." He said, noticing that the first one was only barely breathing.

She shrugged. "He ain't dead."

He frowned at Yoko. "I'll have you know although I'm not any more, I'm a war vet and I'm sure, not to boast, that I could take you in a fight, no contest. I'm just as qualified to help out with crime, badge or not."

"I'd rather talk to the badge," Star interjected, frowning.

Kale muttered something under his breath again and stepped out of the way.

Yoko sighed.

"If you want to help then volunteer at the station. They'll give you a badge."

"No. But the next one might be." Marcus said sternly. "You'd be amazed how brittle vegans are. Once arrested one for DUI. When I put him against the hood of the car Every rib in his chest broke. The hospital had to stick a straw into his chest and reinflate his lungs manually for almost an hour."

Star frowned. "Could me stop arguing and get this over with? I'm trying to run a business here..."

Her eyes rolled. "No broken bones."

Marcus looked at the kids in the other room.

"Sure. We'll-" He looked at Kale "Be in the back if you need us." Yoko followed MArcus into another room.

Marcus watched as the last few kids left.

Star smiled. "Thank you for helping today. You really didn't have to."

"My pleasure." He smiled. Just then there was a bump comming from another room.

The hedgecat looked up, frowning. "Oh, no..."

Marcus pushed her behind him and drew his gun. He aproached the door. The bumping became louder and the doorknob turned. MArcus stepped back and a fox with a baseball bat pushed inside. He turned and Marcus shot him in the leg.

As Marcus walked over to inspect the man another came in and hit him in the head with a bat. He turned to swing at Star but marcus swung his tail and tripped him. He then pounced and they began to roll about on the floor until marcus threw him off and onto a table. The man pulled out a knife and MArcus grabbed his gun and shot the man in the heart.

Star gasped, a hand clapping over her mouth. "Oh my god!"

Marcus got up, not notcing he was cut on his cheek.
