"Thanks." He made for the garage door, but stopped, turned back to her. "When this whole things blows over... We'll have to finish that Chardonnay, non?"

She laughed. "Of course. A demain."

He smiled at her. "Demain, il est." With that, he disappeared beyond the garage door, grabbed the keys to his mototrcycle.

It annoyed her that she immediately missed him, so she began digging through her suitcases to locate a suitable outfit. She would have to draw attention away from the wolf, she decided, by taking caring of Baudoin's followers herself.

He didn't even leave the house yet, and he already felt empty without her. It sucked to no end. Turning the key in the ignition, the bike roared to life, and, doing a wheelie, he sped off into the night, the garage door closing behind him.

For the moment, he was no longer Emile Baudoin, as he felt all night. He was now Nova, the badass bounty hunter. He had to be, for both of their sakes...

Smiling, she waited until he had gone and dressed quickly. She took several blades, including her diamond one. She wasn't foolish enough to believe that all of them would be as simple to take down as the chameleon had been. She walked out, grabbing the keys, and went into the garage. She replaced his plates with ones from her own stash before getting into his car. She would leave it near the middle of the city and walk from that point. It was simpler for her to track on foot.

Particularly since she didn't know how many there were or anything. And if they'd been following Cross to begin with, they knew of Nova's connection to him...

His place would be the best to start, she decided and quickly drove off.

Finally back home, Cross closed the door behind him. He took another look at the wine bottle in his hand, smiled. "He could've cashed it in," he remarked.

A hedgecat tackled him, smiling. "Who could've cashed what in?"

"Ah! Easy, Star!" Cross said in surprise. Sure that the wine bottle was secure in his hand, he chuckled. "Well, I lost my reward check earlier today, and Nova found it. I did him a favor in exchange for the check. That's why I bolted earlier."

"Okay." She licked his neck, snuggling.

He chuckled. "Now, where were we?"

She purred, slid her fingers beneath his shirt. "In what was going to be a variety of interesting positions."

"Sounds good to me." He pressed his mouth to hers, setting the wine bottle out of the way.

When there was a knock on the door, she sighed into his mouth. "Ignore it."

"Gladly," he breathed, and kept going.

Rolling her eyes, Aurélie picked the lock and opened the door. Amused, she leaned against the doorjamb. "Well, she didn't let you get very far inside..."

"What the?!" Cross pulled away abruptly, a cynical look in his eyes. This softened up after he saw who it was. "Miss Aurélie?"

"Salut." She angled her head, ears twitching slightly. "Come outside, will you? I 'ave something to show you."

Star's ears went flat, eyes going grey from annoyance and wariness.

"Uh, Star, relax," he said to the hedgecat, his eyes becoming deathly fearful. "She's on the level."

"Mom!" came a shout from upstairs and Star bolted.

The dog frowned slightly. "It seems I missed one..." Behind her in his yard lay at least 20 men of varying specie. One of which had gotten his head crushed by a tire when she'd driven up. The rest had attacked her at that point and had been dealt with quickly.

The echidna quickly rose to his feet, taking on a very serious look. "Where is he?"

Upstairs, Star screamed and a small grey fox skidded to a stop at the top of the stairs, eyes wide. "Cross!"

With a growl, Aurélie shot up the stairs.

"Shoot!" Grabbing his blaster, Cross bolted up the stairs after the dog.

"Yeah, kinda in a hurry Psyche, but thanks for the ride." With that, Kale dashed away from the limo, leaping over several corpses, and flung himself to the house and ran through the open door. "Cross, what the hell is going on here?!" He was holding his favorite Deagles, at the ready, following Cross and Aurélie up the stairs.
