Aurélie ducked, slashing her blades at Elesis's legs as she slid between them, getting to her feet quickly and spinning around, panting.

Instead of dropping in pain, she turned to face the dog as if her legs weren't just cut. On closer inspection-if one dared to get close-the cuts were instantly cauterized, not the slightest bit of blood oozing from the gashes.

She charged after the dog, sending a wild barrage of swipes her way, each one with a progressively hotter heat wave, and the first was incredibly hot to begin with.

The dog dodged the hits, laughing. She got behind the echidna, kicked her back and sent her to the ground, chucking blades at her.

Elesis got to her feet with a handspring, and sent out a heat wave so powerful, it deflected the thrown blades away from her.

She could see students scrambling off out of the corner of her eye, several of her blades coming within inches of some of them. It didn't register as she chucked several more at the echidna. She managed to get close enough to grab Elesis's arm and jerk it behind her back, sending her to the ground again and springing away. She didn't notice the slight burns she received on her hand.

With a growl, the echidna got to her feet again, the flames expanding up her arms. She charged in again, the fire in her right hand growing especially ferocious...

Nova stepped in, sending a thunderous punch into Elesis's gut. Her eyes widened, then faded shut as she fell to the ground, unconscious, the flames dissipating almost instantly, including the ones that burned around their battlefield.

"I said that's enough..."

The blades in Aurélie's hands dropped with a clatter, and she took a step back. "Bof," she breathed.

Nova took a deep breath, surveying the damage. Not as bad as it looks, all things considered. He looked out the corner of his eye, to the class that cowered in a far corner. "...Class dismissed. Tell the others that class is canceled for the day."

Immediately, the class high-tailed it out of the gym as fast as possible. The only one remaining was the wolf, Briggs.

Aurélie scrubbed a hand over her face. "Mon dieu... I did not mean for that to 'appen... Je suis désolé, Nova..."

"Don't worry about it," he responded, not bothering to look at her. Instead he picked up Elesis's limp body. "She'll be fine. Some minor ligament damage, but nothing Mani can't fix in a second. Briggs, take care of her, will ya?"

The gray wolf walked over and took the echidna from the brown wolf, holding her with almost lovingly. He walked to the door, but stopped and turned back to the dog. "Have a good day, Miss Laroche." With that, he left through the door, leaving Nova and Aurélie alone.

Aurélie blew out a breath. "'E knew 'oo I was," she mumbled, then sank to the floor, closing her eyes. "Merde."

Nova went over to her and knelt down, wrapping her arms around her. "Hey, relax," he said in a comforting voice. "Old Briggs has seen a lot in his lifetime. He's even dabbled a bit in bounty hunting. He knew who you were from the gate. He's the only one who would know, save me and Elesis.

"Anyway, things happen, okay? Don't get so worked up about it. I'm just glad I stopped her when I did."

She trembled. "I wanted to kill 'er."

He chuckled, caressing her arms in hopes of calming her. "It's to be expected. You're a killer. Hide it, fake it, dress it up however you want to. Bottom line-you're a killer, and a damn good one, too. We're not gonna hold that against you. Besides, I'm pretty sure she reached a point where she felt the same."

Aurélie shook her head. "I kill when it is beneficial. I do not kill when it is supposed to be a 'armless match and when there are..." She rose, breaking away from him. "Bof. It does not matter."

He sighed, getting to his feet as well. "Aurélie..." He couldn't find the words to say.
