She smiled. "Nice. Of course they'd go for some weird ass names like that."

He shrugged slightly. "Well, that's them. You don't have to worry about that, because I doubt you'll be having kids anytime soon."

"Unless I get really lucky, hell no."

"One thing's for sure, we'll get a lot of mileage out of messing with him. Sol's already gotten started."

Katherine laughed, "If two individuals go from fuck-buddies with every intention to not get involved, to man and wife plus two in a matter of months, I'd say your chances are better than you think." She had popped up alongside them.

"Pfft. Doubt it." She shrugged. "'Sides, I don't care much one way or another. I deal with kids every damn day as it is."

"Then you'll have plenty of experience."

"Gee, what a relief..."

"I'm happy to help."

Cross laughed. "It just occurred to me-I guess it was a good thing Nova lost that bet that landed him in StarShine. A nice little crash course in childcare."

She laughed, she just couldn't picture him doing well with kids, then again, Sunny didn't seem like the kid-friendly type, either.

"Yeah, 'cause Aurélie doesn't really seem like the child-rearin' type. Either," she added, a slight smirk on her face.

He snickered. "I can already see who's gonna wear the skirt in the family..."

"Don't doubt her too much. Maternal instincts are rather hard to stamp out, even if the individual is a professional assassin."

Sunny shrugged. "I dunno. I ain't seen her with the kids yet."

"Maybe, but those first few months, a year tops, I have a feeling Nova's gonna be hard at work."

She nodded, "Undoubtedly. Good thing that people like them tend to learn fast."

Sunny nodded, not bothering to cover her yawn. "Yeah, we'll see."

Cross shook his yawn away. "Yeah, I guess we will. I'll keep the camera close by."

The dog chuckled. "You do that. We almost at the room yet?"

Cross looked up at the hallway they were in. "Yeah, this is it. The last two rooms on the left are free."

"Good." She headed for one. "You keeping Trip by you tonight?"

He nodded. "Yeah. I think he'll be the most comfortable around me."

"Yeah. I think you lose some comfort after watching somebody kill somebody else." She shrugged. "If I ain't up 'fore you leave, bring me coffee."

"What kind of brew would you like, Sunshine?" Asked Katherine with a smirk, "Soldiers live on coffee, so we got plenty of different kinds..."
