Echo wadded until he found the shore. He rushed up and hugged Sunny.

Shadow used a spear to create light. He saw her sitting on the ground and ran over to her, embrassing her.

And then there was a light in both dreams.

^

Echo and Sunny saw what appeared to be the Master emerald over the lake.

Shadow and Star saw it at the end of the cave a few dozen yards away.

"What do you want!?" Shadow asked.

"Why are you here?" Echo asked.

Star held him tighter, trembling. "What's going on?" she whispered, terrified.

Sunny pressed close to Echo, frowning.

"You've been living on borrowed time." It told them both.

"Do you not know that it was I who brought you to life? Now it is time to fullfill your purpose I set for you. You will become my servers as your father did."

"Like hell we are!' Echo shouted.

"You're not taking us alive!" Shadow seethed.

"They aren't your slaves!" Star shouted, clinging to Shadow.

"Leave them alone," Sunny growled.

"You of all people should be helping me!" It told the girls.

"How else then being my servants will you be able to live happily? Star, you are a cross breed. If Sunny and Echo have children they will be cross breeds. There is no where in the world other than my bosom that can hold you." IT told them.

The hedgecat blinked, looking up at the hedgehog. It was true... Her children would probably be cross breeds as well... Or at least one of them was bound to be...

She shivered. Being a cross breed was so lonely... So dangerous... But was it worth losing their freedom? She didn't know...

Echo looked at Sunny.

"Is this what you want?"

Shadow turned to Star.

"Do you want this?"

Sunny and Star each took a deep breath. "No," they said in unison. Freedom mattered much more.

Echo and Shadow turned to the master emerald. IT shone brightly and suddenly all 4 were in the master emerald's shrine. Standing there before them was Chaos 0.

Echo and Shadow each took a step back.

"This is your debt. It's what you owe." The Master emerald declared.

Star held him tightly, shivering.

Sunny scowled, growling softly.

"No...." Echo whispered.

"Yes." The emerald replied. Chaos 0 convulsed. The liquied around its head recedded and underneath there was the figure of a Light blue and red hedgehog.

"D...Dad?...." Shadow stuttered, leaning now on Star.

"I cleaved your souls form the heavens. And I remade him. He served me well. And continues to serve me, in return, you both are immortal; you will be reborn whenever you die so long as he remains loyal. Now you have reached your full potential. You have the weapons with which to defend me. Repay your father's sacrifice and serve me now!"

"Why should they have to do what their father did?!" Sunny snapped, growling angrily. "It's their life!"

Star clung to the hedgehog, nuzzling him gently.

Echo cleared his throat. This was a bit much...

"VIr said we owed him nothing..." Shadow said distantly. Echo looked at him.

"Yeah...he did......" He turned to Gilgamesh.

"Sorry..." The master emerald glowed angrily. [lol how can a glow be angry?]

"YOU FOOLS! DO YOU NOT REALISE MY GLORY? CAN I NOT CRUSH THIS INSULENT TROY WITH A THOUGHT!? DO NOT THE ECHIDNAS FEAR AND RESPECT MY POWER TO THE POINT THEY GIVE UP THEIR OWN GREATEST WARRIORS AND THEIR LIVES TO PRESERVE ME!? Am I not worth it all? Am I not the wonder of this planet, the greatest power in the world?!.......

......Perhaps in all worlds..."

Star, starting to grow angry, took a step forward. "Then make one of the echidnas be your slave! Leave Shadow and Echo alone! Let them live their own lives! You have so much power, you're corrupted! You're not worth being preserved!"

Sunny's fists clenched angrily.

"What use have I for your opinion half breed?" It asked dully. Echo thought for a moment.

"If you're so powerfull...why do you need so much protection?" He asked. It was silent.

"You need us but we dont need you! We'll find our own way!" Echo told it. Giglamesh turned to the emerald and they comunicated.

"Fine." the master emerald said.

"But if you had listened, then she-" a wind blew around Star.

'Could have been saved." The area was surrounded with a bright light and suddenly they were each in the beds they fell asleep in.

Star hissed. She was tired of just being half. She was a person like anyone else.

Sunny smirked, squeezing Echo's hand.

Shadow jolted up. Then shivvered. It was very cold at night. He snuggled up to star's warm body.

Echo squeezed back, smiling.

The hedgecat pressed close, shivering from cold. "Shadow?" she whispered.

Sunny licked his neck sleepily, smiling.

Shadow gabbed another quilt and put it over them.

"I'm here." He said, wrapping his arms around her.

Echo smiled and climbed on top of her, sucking her neck back.

"I had a really weird dream," she said quietly.

She wrapped her arms around him, smiling.

"I did too. I think we all did."

Echo felt her stomach and began to rub it figorously.

"We didn't get to finish earlier.." He whispered.

She nodded, pressing close. "What did it mean about me being saved?" she whispered.

She arched against him, smiling. "Yeah..."

"Im not sure. Vir said somehting like that too."

"The safe words are 'no' and 'please please stop'. Anything less then two 'pleases' and im going harder." HE teased, moving his mouth down to her breasts.

She pressed close, frowning.

"Please please keep going." Smiling, she ran her hands through his soft fur.
