He blushed again. "Th-thanks."

"I love you, too." He pressed their lips back together.

Nova rolled his eyes. "Come on! You'll have plenty of time for baby makin', once this is all over!"

She blushed as well. "No problem... Hey! We're here!" She looked up at the familiar sign on the nearby door.

Aurélie laughed. "Nova, 'e is still walking. It is better than nothing."

He looked up, too. "Yeah. Do you think we're allowed to eat in there...?"

The wolf shrugged. "Well, yeah, there's that. The man can multitask, I'll give him that."

"Hmm... Didn't think of that. Well, there's only one way to find out. C'mon!" She strode up to the door, opened it, and stepped through.

"We can hear you guys." Star grinned, lips moving against Cross's as she spoke.

"Burn," Sunny announced, grinning. She had the hedgecat back. Fucking win.

He followed, keeping his hand in hers.

Nova scoffed, "Then, you'd know I was actually praisin' the guy, for a change!"

Cross rolled his eyes, sank back into the kiss. It was good to see and hear the Star he knew and loved so much.

Besides some height problems, they didn't seem to have any trouble, getting some food for themselves. They were even pointed a small, adjusted table to eat at Yue smiled as she sat down. "Well, that wasn't so bad, was it?"

She wrapped her arms around him, lapping happily at his tongue.

He sat across from her, shaking his head. "Yeah. Um... thanks."

Damien's voice crackled over the coms, sounding more than a bit annoyed and touch impatient. "Could you people get moving already? The cops are already at the scene, it won't be long before the city is sealed off."

Nova couldn't help but smile at the two. "Pick of the litter, all right. Yo, Sunny! How much further?"

"Sorry for the delay," Kane responded. "We're a bit loaded down. Shouldn't be much longer, now."

"No problem!" She looked around, at all the others in the hall. "Do you think there are any other kids around?"

"Shit, we can get out now. We're far enough away from the building and we don't really need to get back to the diner."

Trip shrugged. "I don't know... This is a military base-thing, isn't it?"

"Oui," Kane said. "But the rendezvous is at the diner. They are already waiting for us, there."

"I think so. But I heard that soldiers' families are sometimes allowed to live on-base, with them. Maybe it's the same, here."

"Fine." A few feet away, there was suddenly a hole in the ceiling and stairs. "Diner."

"Maybe."

"Right," Nova said, moving for the stairs, bringing Aurélie along with him. "Let's get outta here." The others followed fluidly.

She sighed. "Well, I guess it doesn't really matter. Just looking for conversation bits, I guess."

Sunny trailed up and the tunnel closed quickly, collapsing in on itself. "Man, I am so ready for a goddamn nap!"

"You and me, both," Briggs said, stretching. "Haven't had a decent wink of sleep at all, that last hunt. Flight better not be too damn quick."

"It is a few hours," Aurélie mused.

"Hell, for real?!"

Sunny smirked. Yup. Star was back. "Yeah."

"Lame!"

"Maybe we'll find some," Trip assured her, smiling.

Briggs sighed. "Perfect." With that in mind, he walked on ahead of the group, towards the plane.

Nova chuckled. "If anyone looks more forward to sleep than Elesis, it's Briggs." He smirked, looked back at Star. "Look on the bright side. Least you got Cross to keep ya company."

"It's okay. They'd probably just tease us for being different, anyway." She took a bite of her food, smiled. "Wow! This is good stuff!"

[Dammit, it's a pelican, not a plane! There's a very obvious difference between the two! -_-;]

Damien looked out of the opened pelican. "Bout time you guys showed up. I was starting to debate whether or not to leave you behind. Good thing I did, too. Cops are swarming all over the crater that was the enemy HQ. I got reports of SWAT teams and helicopters all over the place."

"Not the way I'd like him to," she pointed out, licking the underside of the echidna's chin.

Sunny's eyes rolled. "You're so retarded."

He dug in as well, a bit unsettled. Would they be made fun of for being different...? He had his entire life, but... He didn't want to see Yue teased.

Cross chuckled. "When we get there, I'm all yours."

Both Nova and Briggs mimed a gag. "Let's get in the air, already," Briggs said, stepping on, nodding to the human. The rest piled on as well, acknowledging in a similar manner.

Yue stopped her eating for a moment, looked at Trip. "You okay?"

Sunny hopped on, sinking into a seat. Grinning, she grabbed Star from Cross and plopped the hedgecat into the seat beside her.

The hedgecat dove, tackling her friend in a hug. "Oh my gosh! I was so worried about you!"

He nodded. "Uh-huh."

Cross chuckled. "Yup. You're definitely feeling better." He took a seat next to Star, relaxed with a sigh.

Briggs had already plopped into a seat-which Sunny happened to sit next to-and relaxed into a comfy position. "Wake me when the flight's over."

"Really? Looks like you've got something on your mind."

The engines on the pelican started up, emiting stealth-variant's signature barely audible hum as the hatch shut and the ship lifted cleanly off the ground and took off towards the base.

"ETA, four hours." Came Katherine's voice from the helmet speakers. Damien remained silent as he took a seat.

"Agreed," the dog said, giving the hedgecat a squeeze before shoving her away.

Star immediately started looking around, gaze settling on Damien. "Hi!"

"Not really." He smiled. "It's okay."

He nodded, "Greetings, hedgecat. It's good to see you're ok."
