Sirius sighed reverently. Boy was he lucky...

"You are one lucky bastard," Zavier said in undertones. "How's it goin' Aurora?"

Dusk sighed, a little annoyed. She was sexy, yes, but he was taken-number one. Not to mention she was generally clueless about herself. He hoped Dart was somewhere close by.

"Hey, Aurora," Sirius said smoothly, moving closer to her. "We were just talking about the band. You know nobody can match your vocals, right?"

"Oh, yes, of course." Her smile was warm enough to melt chocolate at fifty yards. "But-"

"But you can't not go on tour with them!" Lyra interjected and Aurora looked over, laughed again.

"Why are you on the floor?" Her tail wagged, causing her breasts to bounce a bit. "Did she tackle you again, Dusk?"

The wolf shrugged, unfazed by her bouncing chest. Zavier, on the other hand, was starting to drool. "Ah, well, y'know."

Sirius cleared his throat, trying to keep his composure. "But what, Aurora? Parents pulling you out of the band?"

"No! They never would. I just... Okay." She sighed. "I'm going to France."

Lyra jumped up, barely managing to not step on Dusk. "What?!"

She nodded, tail wagging quicker. "I loved it there the last time - I want to go back. And... maybe stay." She knew the cities to avoid - they all did - and that would be easy enough. "So I've decided to quit." Her smile turned apologetic. "I guess I should've let you all know sooner..."

"Whoa! Time-out!" Zavier said. "I thought France was forbidden territory!"

"That was back in the day," Dusk pointed out. "I went there once, and had a run-in with some of the rougher crowd. No thanks."

"Yeah, but wait a minute!" Sirius was growing desperate. "You can't leave now! We're about to go on tour! The band needs you!"

"I know... But I figure you could find someone else... Just set up a mic for Dawn while she's at the drums. She's good."

"Well, yeah, but..."

"Get on with it, Sirius!" Zavier commanded.

Her ears suddenly perked. "Dart! Be right back!" Grinning, she bounded over and tackled her brother, stealing his soda and speeding off with it.

The wolf blinked, shook his head. Typical Aurora. So typical, he was ready with another soda in his back pocket.

"H-hey! Wait!" Sirius tried to get her attention, but she had already gone. He sighed dejectedly.

Zavier shook his head. "Sirius, you fail at life, forever."

"I know..."

Dart looked over the two boys, his normal bored expression on them. "I take it she's busted out the news."

"Yes!" Lyra was less than pleased. "All the way to France?!"

"Who's going to France?" A silver-furred dog walked up, popping grapes into his mouth.

"Aurora!"

He looked at Sirius, snorted. "Ouch."

"Thanks for rubbin' it in, Pavo," Sirius said depressingly.

Dart sighed, shook his head. "Sorry, guys. Tried to talk her out of it. She really wants this."

"But why France...?"

"Maybe because of... their mom? And Kane? And Aurore? And-"

"I get it," she grumbled, pouting.

"Hey, I don't like this any less." Dart took a sip of his soda. "Dad's been off ever since she mentioned it."

"Lyra!" Dawn called out, running to the group, Luna panting behind her. "Are you okay?"

"Aurora's moving to France! And I am so gonna hurt you later for freaking me out! Dusk's staying!"

Dawn blinked. "...He is?"

"What!?" Luna said, shocked. "Aurora's leaving!? But what about the band!?"

Zavier sighed. "I hope you've been workin' on your singin', Dawn."

"What? Me? Lead singer??" She shook her head. "Oh, no, I can't do that! I'd get major stage freight!"

"You're right," Sirius said solemnly. "We're callin' off the tour. The band's done."

Aurora was on him in an instant. "Ithoughtaboutitandit'stoounfairsoI'mgonnagookay?IcangotoFranceagainafterthissummerbutnowI'mhungrysobyeagain!" And she was gone again.

On the catwalk above the room a dog sat, idly twirling a blade in his hand. The blade he wished he had was hidden safely under his bed, so he satisfied himself with this generic one. The other one had power and a secret... A dark secret from what he'd been able to sense. But where had it come from...?

He watched Aurora idly as she happily pinged from group to group, chattering their ear off and going onto the next. She'd never been comfortable in one place for too long and he pitied Sirius for the day he finally admitted his feelings for her.

Though, more than Aurora, his eyes scanned for someone else entirely. Aqua fur, splashes of grey here and there... He could sympathize well with Sirius unrequited love, but Armande was teased much less for his feelings. No one knew of them, as he preferred it to be.

In fact, no one even knew he was there. He'd returned just in time to see the trio walk across the stage for their diplomas and had walked out again, had come straight to Orion Tech and had passed out on the catwalk. One thing about bounty hunting - there was little time for sleep.

Damn it all, where was Shine?! He'd missed her and she wasn't cooperating...

Sirius blinked. There and gone again. That was Aurora, all right.

"There you are!" The echidna smiled brightly at the dog, settled into a perch next to him. "Sorry I'm late. Coach gave me the Olympic riot again."

"I think... No, I dunno. The hell did she just say?" Lyra looked at Dart - he was generally the one who could dissect his wild sister.

He looked over, face bland. Sneak attack, he mused to himself. "Ah. Why aren't you down there?"

Dart placed a hand to his chin. "...She's gonna stay for the summer, so I guess she'll still be in the band."

Sirius looked up, hope shining in his eyes. "Really?"

Zavier nudged the dog. "Lucky you! You get another chance! Don't screw it up."

She shrugged. "Why aren't you?"

"That's askin' a lot," Pavo mused, smiling slightly.

"Because it's more interesting to watch."

"Aw, shut up, bro! I'm gonna pull in off before the summer's over! Just you watch me!"

She giggled. "Let the knuckleheads run the gauntlet themselves, huh?"

"I've been watching you for, what, four years now? Get with it."

"Indeed." The only thing that tempted him down was the steadily depleting food supply. Where in god's name did Pavo put it all?

"This time will be different! I won't let her slip away again!"

Luna smirked. "Well, all we can do is wish you luck... And hope she doesn't turn you down."

Sirius slumped. "You had to go there, didn't you?"

She giggled. "Look at Pavo go! He must have a shrink ray in his stomach, or something!"

Pavo smiled, tail wagging lazily. "'Course she did." He reached back at the table, nabbed the last piece of cake. He'd been steadily maneuvering the group towards the food table and had happily succeeded.

"Yes. Though a tapeworm would be more realistic, despite the fact that he would most certainly be dead by now were that the case."

Luna was the first to notice. "Pavo, you fatty!" she chided playfully. "That piece was supposed to be mine!"
