"Oh, you know I will." She attacked the boy's face with big smooches.

"Mama!" he squealed, wriggling wildly. "I don't do kisses!"

Trip smiled. "Yue, remember when you didn't do cute?"

"I still don't," she said, grinning. "But I get what you mean. He's gonna break out, eventually."

"You're still cute." He licked her cheek and Nat rolled his eyes.

"Ew," he groaned.

She laughed, nuzzling her husband. "And I'll only accept it from you."

"Can we stop kissing now?" Nat whined. "Even Grandma doesn't kiss me this much!"

"We had to get in all the kisses we could, Nat." Trip smiled. "We're making up for all the kisses we've missed while we've been gone."

Yue grinned. "One last one." She gave Nat a big smooch on the forehead.

He grunted, then nuzzled her. "Now we're done?"

"Yeah, we're done." She smiled warmly, pressing her son close. "Oh, I've missed you so much..."

He snuggled, smiling. "I missed you too, Mama."

Trip laid a hand on his back, grinning.

She blinked, passed Nat over to Trip. "I've got a little treat for you, Nat." She reached into her tattered jacket, pulled out a gold chain with a topaz gem.

His tails twirled with interest. It was shiny! "Where'd you get it?"

"I made it, just for you." She draped it around his neck, marveled at how well it matched his eyes.

He took the gem in his hand and smiled at it. "It's pretty, Mama."

Trip smiled. "It's perfect for you, Nat."

"As long as you have that, we'll be together forever." She stroked his soft hair fondly.

He smiled. "Okay. I'll keep it for forever."

She smiled. "I'd like that."

"So would I." Trip smiled, nuzzling his son.

"Okay! Can I go show everybody? Is everybody back yet?"

She blinked. "Mew? Back from where? The tour?"

"No, they were all going to practice before Grandma made me come up here for a nap." He yawned, nuzzling his father. "I think they're gonna go fight bad people together soon."

"I see..." In a flash, she was reminded Danny's heartbreaking story... and that innocent little girl. She clenched a free fist. She wanted to fight, to show that she wouldn't sit idly by, and let these monsters have their way over children who barely know any better...

Her hand went limp. No. She wouldn't abandon her family, just to satisfy her anger. They meant too much to her. "...I think we'll take a rain check. What do you say, Trip?"

He studied her for a moment, nodded slightly. "We stuck with Mom the last time they tangled with Baudoins. They shouldn't need us this time, either."

"You're staying?!"

"Absolutely."

Grinning, Nat snuggled close to his father. "Yay!"

She smiled. "Yeah. Besides, someone needs to watch over the home front. Wanna give us a hand?"

He nodded, tails twirling. "Yes!"

"Okay! Then it's time for a team meeting. Let's find the others."
