When they got down the stairs, he was standing on his toes, peering into a small basket where the twins had been laid. They were both asleep, which sort of bored him. They were nice to look at, but asleep? How could he play with them and teach them anything when they were asleep?

[ My prof decided that the test was unfair as he hadn't given us all the notes!!! ]

"Nat, relax," Yue said, taking a sip of her tea. "You'll get plenty of time to teach them, when they wake up, okay?"

Cross chuckled. It was amazing how easily the hyperactive little hedgehog he used to know slid into being a mother. It was definitely something she gained from her mother.

He frowned, dropping back down. "Do they sleep all the time?"

"You did," Trip said, scratching his son behind the ear. "Too bad those days are gone."

Yue laughed. "Yeah, I miss those days. So quiet... Anyway, they were only just born yesterday. You can't expect them to be so ready for the world, let alone you."

"That's right," Cross said, smiling. "You're quite the handful, on your own. Good morning, guys."

"Late morning, Uncle Cross," Yue pointed out.

"Yeah, Nat got us with that, too."

"Good to know our little messenger does a good job," she mused.

The hedgefox grinned widely. "I sure did!"

Smiling, Star went over to the stove and hugged Danny. "Are you glad you can reach the stove again?"

She giggled. "Yes." She flipped a few more pancakes onto a plate. "Those ones are for you and Dad."

Cross went over to Dart, placed a hand on his shoulder. "No more sleepless night for a while."

"Good," the wolf responded, sliding a pan full of eggs on a plate. "And here are the eggs."

"Thanks. So, how's Donny holding up?"

At her name, the baby opened an eye, mewed, and shut it again.

Danny giggled. "She's very silly. And I think she's smart... Or should I not say that?"

"Sweetheart, you can brag about your kids all you want." Star grinned widely. "Trust me on that one."

At the sound of Donny's mew, baby Sol opened an eye, responded with one of his own, and shut it back.

Yue giggled. "And Sol's got a sense of humor like his namesake."

"Well, that's just great." Cross smirked. "He'll be doing stand-up, by the time he hits six."

Both of Donny's eyes opened curiously. She hadn't expected a response. She yipped this time, wondering if he'd respond again.

Star laughed. "I love my family; they're all ridiculous."

"Including you," Danny teased, encouraged by Star's laugh.

Sol opened his eyes, yipped in response.

Dart smirked. "Looks like Sol and Donny are going to be good friends."

Cross nodded. "Seems that way."

Donny opened her mouth again, but baby Star opened her mouth and let out a sound that effectively shushed both of them. Purring, she settled back and fell asleep again.

Sunny snickered, leaning against the doorjamb. "Well, that one definitely takes after her granny."

"Shut up, Sunshine."

The dog grinned. "See? The difference is that baby Star's more effective."

"Very funny, Sunny," Cross said, rolling his eyes.

"Mad 'cause it's true?" Briggs said, smirking.

"Don't make me come over there, Xavier."

"Bring it on, Gray Matter."

Danny laughed, going over to Donny and picking her up. "You can talk to him later," she murmured, nuzzling the baby. Tail wagging, she happily licked her mother.

Yue picked up her son from the basket, nuzzled him gently. Having been right next to baby Star, he received the full force of the sound. "It's okay. You'll get to know her soon enough." The baby mewed softly, licked his mother.

Cross smirked. "Aren't you glad you don't gotta go through that again, Sunny?"

She shrugged. "One kid's more than enough." Though there had been times when she'd wondered... Oh, well. It's not as if Z had grown up an only child, all things considered.

"How 'bout some grandkids?" Zavier said, scratching his head tiredly.

Briggs snickered. "Damn, kid. She wear you out like that?"

The young wolf nodded. "Cross, whip me up some of your special brew..."

Sunny glanced over and burst out laughing. "Fail, kid. Epic fail." But she was grinning widely. So Dawn was a closet freak after all.

"Shut up, Mom. We been goin' at it all night. Was able to sneak in an hour of sleep before she jumped me again. Not only that..."

His face had Briggs almost on the floor with laughter. "I ain't sayin' nothin'!"

Sunny busted up, hugging him. "Shit, son, looks like she's the one going for some records."

"Yeah..."

Briggs grinned, patted his son on the back. "Kid, you better step up to the plate!"

"Step up to what plate?" Dawn had just walked in, a bright smile on her face, especially when turned on Zavier.

The young wolf managed a grin. "Y'know what, make it a double."

Yue raised an eyebrow at her. "Dawn, you're walking kinda funny. You okay?"

"Oh, I'm just fine, Yue. Just, uh, stretching out the muscles, is all."

The hedgefox giggled. "Dad, she looks like she's waddling."

Trip bit his lip, doing his best not to laugh. "Sure, Nat, that's what she's doing."

Sunny's tail wagged. "Fuckin' A, this is a good damn day already."

Briggs grinned. "Zavier, my man, welcome to the club."

"Shut the fuck up." Zavier shook his head, but couldn't keep down the smirk. He still couldn't believe that, not only was Dawn a freak, but she was into that.

"Here you are, Z," Cross said, pushing a rather large mug in front of the wolf. "One Lockhart Deluxe, with the works. And Dawn, this one'll set you right." He pushed another, smaller mug in front of the collie.

"Thanks," Zavier said, guzzling his down.

"Merci," Dawn said, taking a sip of hers.

Sunny snickered, put her hands on Dawn's shoulders. "I knew I liked you."

Dawn looked up, blinked. "Oh, um, thank you."

Yue shook her head. "It's official, Z. You've got your soul mate."

"Well, we already knew that." It was Elesis, striding in with a grin. "Damn, it was hilarious hearin' all that."

"You're shittin' me!" Zavier said, rounding on the echidna. "You were right next door?"

Comet strolled in after her, grin wide. "Oh, yeah, we were. At one point Z said, 'again?!' loud as hell. It woke me up."
